Great looking college kit is a must for any student!
It is easy enough to start off with a good quality product and add some colourful embroidery. But how do you make this look even more eye-catching? ETC has a couple of great ideas to take your embroidery to the next level.
The first is 3D Foam. As the name suggests, this method gives a raised effect on the embroidery stitching. 3D Foam comes in black or white colour, but you can use any colour embroidery thread over it as the foam is ultimately completely covered.
A few tips when using 3D Foam:
- Apply a small dab of temporary adhesive spray to hold it in place.
- Use the correct type of needles such as SPI or SD1.
- Use Fablube sewing lubricant to stop your needles picking the small fragments of the 3D Foam.
- Get proper digitizing for this type of 3D Foam, as the ends have to be capped and other adjustments.
The second option is to use Appli Tear material. This is available in all different types and colours so you can let your imagination run wild and be very creative. The main difference between the Appli Tear and 3D Foam is that Appli Tear is only stitched around the border, so it saves a lot of time on sewing, but the effect still makes your embroidery stand out!
A few tips when using Appli Tear Material:
- Apply a small dab of temporary adhesive spray to hold it in place.
- Use the correct type of needles such as SPI or SD1.
- Use Fablube sewing lubricant to stop your needles from picking up the small fragments of the Appli Tear Material.
- Get proper digitizing for this type of Appli Tear Material, as the stitch density has to be tighter, and the ends have to be capped plus other adjustments.
